…..and they said I’d never make it !!!!!
60
Well I did, much to most peoples surprise, shock and amazement. Don’t quite know how I got here, but it’s been a great trip. Spent a great childhood (some would suggest I never left it) in the Gully with two great parents who taught me to be honest, hard working and true to myself and my friends. And now a sensational son that has made my life even more meaningful than I thought possible.

Loved my sport and was fortunate enough to play footy on every V.F.L. ground and in a final series with North Under 19’s on the M.C.G. Played cricket for forty years with some ripping blokes and have enough memories to last forever.

Have been lucky enough to travelled to over 30 countries, lived and worked in a few for a couple of years, met some amazing locals and fellow travellers, and had some unbelievable experiences in some fascinating places.

But the magnet of The Gully kept drawing me back to where I belong, amongst the many, many friends and mates that have meant so much more than the travels, the sport and the good fortune that has pushed me so quickly through my sixth decade.

So now it’s time to give thanks for the journey so far and celebrate with all those people who have helped, guided, confided, supported, encourage, ragged, bagged, laughed, cried, and shared their journey with mine.

Please come along to the Gully Cricket club at Wally Tew reserve Ferntree Gully on Saturday January 11th 2014 at 7.00pm and party the night away. There will be a live band (they’re old but still alive), finger food and drinks at bar prices.

The night will have a BLUE & WHITE theme, so come in a North/Gully jumper, your cricket whites, come as William Wallace, a Smurf, a Blue moon, anything but a blue mood.

Please, no bloody presents unless it’s a Porche Targa

Ps: Now I know that January is holiday time and I understand that you may be away, so if you are don’t come back just for this occasion, coz there are going to be plenty more birthdays and times to catch up.
